A lot of people who are lacking in funds at the moment, thus putting them in a financially poor state at the moment, still have excellent credit. They may have just chosen a lower paying job, or may be in school, or whatever. ARGH- I just love it (NOt) when you're talking to one reasonable customer service rep who then has to transfer you to another dept and you get a sarcastic jerk on the phone. Debt consolidation isn't a simple process by any means, but my Discover card is harassing me about this crap when they should be dealing with Credit Guard and not me on this ( Read more... )

Many of you here reading might be surprised to know that I've been pretty much poverty-stricken for the first 25 years of my working life. Thirteen of them were while I served in the USAF, and at my peak pay, I made $16K a year. After taxes, it was more like $12K.
